Light Therapy System

A unique treatment for Acne and Anti-Ageing

The Phototherapy System harnesses the power of light therapy, the origins of which stem back to ancient times. The benefits of light on the human body and mind have long been recognised in the medical arena and now light therapy is also at the forefront of salon technology.

The unique phototherapy system incorporates red and blue lights in the same lamp housing and can be used for the treatment of moderate acne and skin rejuvenation procedures. This is the only system using red and blue lights to achieve FDA approval for the treatment of mild to moderate Acne Vulgaris.

Although it's classed as a medical device, the light falls well within the Health and Safety Executive guidelines for occupational exposure of unprotected eyes and skin.

The wavelengths of red light and a gentle heat increase micro vascular circulation, improving the oxygenation process also helps the toxin removal procedure. This in turn helps increase collagen and elastin production within the basal layer. Increased cellular activity benefits problem skin and adds a new vitality to the epidermis. Sun damaged and mature skin respond to red light therapy producing a gradual improvement over a course of treatments. A course of treatments will help reduce the appearance of fine lines around the eyes, mouth and neck, overall improvement to the tone and texture of the epidermis produces a new vitality that lasts. A relaxing procedure that leaves the skin feeling soft and revitalized.

Acne

Acne is one of the worlds most common skin conditions and results from obstruction, bacterial colonization and inflammation of the sebaceous follicles. It affects between 85-100% of adolescents by the age of 24 years and has been shown to affect up to 50% of adults over 25 years. Acne is a widespread and upsetting condition. It can produce lifelong physical and emotional scarring.

One of the key bacteria responsible for the inflammation is Propionibacterium acnes or P.Acnes, which produces natural chemicals called porphyrins, which are sensitive to blue light. Blue light stimulates porphyrin in the sebum to release oxygen to create a photodynamic effect on the P.Acnes bacteria. The oxygenation process attacks the bacteria to reduce encapsulated inflammation, allowing pores, spots, pimples and pustules to shrink naturally.

Light therapy is beneficial for all types of problem skin; clinical results prove increased cell growth is vital for skin rejuvenation and moderate Acne Vulgaris treatments.
